Field-Proven Expertise in High Tech Industrial and Commercial Electrical Construction

Backed by more than 35 years of commercial and industrial electrical construction experience, Core Electrical Consulting delivers independent SME oversight and advisory services that align design, constructability, and execution through flexible engagement models.

Meet Our Founder

Core Electrical Consulting Ltd. was founded and is led by James Montaño, a 35+ year electrical construction professional providing independent, execution-focused guidance for commercial, industrial, medical, and mission-critical projects.

Built on the core values of Safety, Quality, Integrity, Accountability, and Mentorship, Core Electrical Consulting delivers clear, practical insight grounded in real-world field experience, not theory.

James has led and supported electrical scopes ranging from $100,000 to over $100 million, covering low-voltage systems, medium- and nominal-voltage power distribution, and complex indoor and outdoor installations. His background spans cleanroom environments and heavy industrial facilities, forming a broad and disciplined base of hands-on expertise.

Committed to strengthening the trade, James gives back as an instructor with the IEC Rocky Mountain Chapter, reinforcing his belief that experience carries a responsibility to be shared and developed in the next generation.

Originally licensed in New Mexico in 1986, James began his career at ground level, progressing through residential and commercial construction before earning his first opportunity at an Intel manufacturing facility. That environment helped shape a career centered on execution, accountability, and respect for the trade. There, he became a proven safety leader and NFPA 70E Subject Matter Expert, maintains an active OSHA 30 certification, and continues to pursue advanced safety training.

Throughout this journey, James has had the unwavering support of his wife, Shandra, whose encouragement and partnership have been instrumental to both his career and the founding of Core Electrical Consulting.
